What was revealed

On a sunny Easter Sunday this was the revelation.
In the stone lobby of the meeting house, in the gloom,
behind the notice frame taken down in order to replace the notice,
was a bat, clinging to the wall,
small, furry, brown, upside down as the books say,
wings folded, tiny feet attached to the rough of the stone,
twitching a little in the light, waiting for twilight,
and the liberation of flight.

On a sunny Easter Sunday this was the revelation.
In the peace of the meeting room,
behind the silence and the sitting,
was the presence of God, strange, unknown,
waiting to be revealed, as the books say,
through sound from the silence,
and light from the shade,
and loosening from the clinging to this life,
that may lead to unlikely liberation.
